For my second option I wanted to use a social-networking logo style to connect with the target audience. I utilized this style because the target audience was your typical 17-20 year old college student living in the dorms. Social networking amongst this demographic is off the charts, so by borrowing the design style I was hoping that students could come down to the cafeteria and social network face to face over a hot meal, rather than alone on a cold computer.
After researching myspace and facebook design styles I came up with the simplified chef hat and rounded, lowercase letterforms. These letterforms are casual and inviting to a younger audience. The chef hat is also a simple reminder that there are actual CHEFS at this cafeteria, not just microwaves and heatlamps!
